JEDI stands for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. This revolutionary educational program that Alpha Omega Epsilon follows was created by Dr. Yvette E. Pearson. Dr. Pearson is a professional Engineer whose work includes helping develop the American Society of Civil Engineers' Code of Ethics, where she serves as a Fellow. Her work also extends to ABET, the UN Foundation, and the American Society for Engineering. She is the founder of the PEER Group, where A.O.E. receives our training from. More about the PEER group and our training can be found here. Our national commitment to EDI can be found here.
Delta Chapter has a proud history of supporting underrepresented genders in STEM for over 30 years. Read more about how we support Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion:
We were the first sorority at MSOE to openly accept transgender women and non-binary students, and have a strong legacy of members who identify with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Our acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community as Delta Chapter led to changes at the national level of our sorority.
We have a dedicated Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee.
We have dedicated quiet spaces at events for sisters and members who get overstimulated.
We provide resources to students across campus to educate them on the principles of JEDI.
We host events centering around JEDI principles frequently.
Our aim is to support all underrepresented groups in STEM: female students, gender non-conforming students, LGBTQIA+ students, multicultural students, students with disabilities, and more. Our membership reflects this focus.
As a sorority, we focus on the comfort of our members and potential new members. Because of this goal, we have a very strict anti-hazing policy.
